Good Shepherd Catholic Primary School, Springfield Lakes welcomes you to our community where we will develop your child to their full potential. Good Shepherd, a Brisbane Catholic Archdiocesan School, commenced in 2013 as a Twenty-First Century Contemporary Catholic School Ten years later we continue to build on the strong base already developed but embark on the next part of our story with an exciting new leadership team.
We believe learning and teaching should be supportive, collaborative, and empowering, and with the help of Brisbane Catholic Education, we provide the tools and opportunities to encourage each child to achieve their individual goals. Each child is unique and develops in their own way, and it is our role to encourage them on their life-long learning journey.
Contemporary learning is different from the way many parents of today's students were taught. It offers teachers and learners many more options to gain the knowledge, skills and capacities to respond creatively to the challenges of our ever-changing world. Learners thrive in our safe, flexible, supportive and secure learning environments which encourage a sense of belonging and purpose.
We are a school that strives to focus on all areas of physical, cognitive, emotional, social and creative development, in an environment that nurtures, protects, and encourages the children in our care to further develop their variety of talents and interests. Student learning, wellbeing and growth are our priority, and we aim to develop our students as happy and capable contributors to our school and to our community through knowledge, understanding, and compassion.
We are a Christ-centred school, empowering our learners to live out our school values of Respect, Faith, Hope, and Love. Faith and prayer are integral to our daily lives here at Good Shepherd, and we help each other to explore and strengthen our faith.
Pope Francis' visible commitment to Christ's humility, love and compassion are well known, as are his joy and tenderness. We take courage and aspire to follow his example as we relate to our young people, opening up with them the treasures of deep and rich learning - developing each day the knowledge, understanding and skills that are essential for meaningful and fruitful living in this digital age.
We have a wonderful school community – a beautiful, nurturing atmosphere that encourages parents, grandparents, and caregivers to take an active part in their child's educational journey. When you join Good Shepherd, we welcome and encourage your involvement. We love to see our families growing and learning together – it sets the foundations for life-long friendships, and a stronger school community. We do our best work when we work together.
Good Shepherd's motto, “Called by Name", depicts a community where everyone is known as an individual person – respected and valued. The motto proclaims a community where all belong, are included, and connect with each other. We are a multicultural community that celebrates the richness and diversity of many cultures, as well as celebrating our First Nation's Peoples.
I encourage you to take some time to explore our website. Please contact the school if you have any enquiries. As Principal, I look forward to with meeting you to offer a personalised tour of our school. It is a great privilege to lead and be part of such a warm and welcoming community.
